Seminars to teach parents how to talk to their kids about money   
NexTier launches “Teach Your Children Well” program

August 1, 2007 – NexTier is offering the first in an ongoing series of financial education seminars on August 7 and 8 for parents with children entering grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Parents will learn the ins and outs of teaching their children about money management. The seminars are a component of NexTier’s “Teach Your Children Well” program, which underscores NexTier’s commitment to extending the reach of financial literacy for youth in the communities it serves.

The seminars are not limited to NexTier customers and are open to the public.The instructor is Cindy Morgan, a field consultant with EconomicsPA, a statewide nonprofit organization that promotes and encourages understanding of economic concepts through education (www.economicspa.org). NexTier’s “Teach Your Children Well” program also includes:

  • “Money Talks” newsletter displayed in NexTier branches and on the website, which helps parents focus on money management for age groups including young children, ‘tweens, teens and young adults;
  • The NexTier Center for Economic Education at Butler County Community College in conjunction with EconomicsPA, which provides in-service training to K-12 teachers in Butler County school districts (curriculum topics include Elementary Economics, Business Plan Competition, Stock Market Game, Financial Fitness for Life, Elementary Economics and Teaching Economics in US History); and 
  • NexTier sponsorship of the Bizzmobile, a mobile classroom that teaches entrepreneurial skills to children in grades K-12; and  
  • NexTier participation in National Teach Children to Save Day” and the “Save for America” program in local school districts.
