Students to receive special recognition
Do you understand the rise and fall of the stock market?
May 4, 2007 – EconomicsPennsylvania will honor students and advisors who invested a hypothetical $100,000 in the Spring 2007 Stock Market Game at a Thursday, May 10 luncheon at Conley Resort from 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m.
During the 10-week simulation, players invested money in stocks chosen from the American, New York and NASDAQ markets. During this early 2007 timeframe, students witnessed a dramatic downturn in the market, only to see it come back and almost break 13,000.
The program’s total participation included more than 500 students, 154 teams and 17 different advisors participating from school districts including Seneca Valley, Butler, South Butler, Butler Catholic, Mars Area, Armstrong, and Freeport. The NexTier Bank Center for Economic Education sponsors this program in Butler County.
Attending the luncheon will be Rep. Jeff Pyle , representative from Armstrong County, David C. Huseman, director of the NexTier Bank Center for Economic Education, Cindy Morgan, field consultant for NexTier Bank Center for Economic Education, Christopher Creahan, vice president of NexTier Wealth Management, and Dr. Nicholas Neupauer, William Speidel, and William Miller representing Butler County Community College.
