Bright yellow Bizzmobile to roll into NexTier’s Wexford branch
EVANS CITY, PA – June 1, 2006 – The future of Pittsburgh’s entrepreneurial spirit is bright, and so is the 35-foot mobile classroom called the Bizzmobile, designed to help children learn about entrepreneurship (see photo below). As the vehicle launches its first local tour in our region, it will make a stop at NexTier Bank’s Wexford branch Saturday, June 10 from 9 a.m. – noon. The branch is located at Route 19 and Bonnieview Drive. NexTier is sponsoring this visit, which marks its first stop at a financial institution in the United States. NexTier is also sponsoring the Bizzmobile’s appearance at Cranberry Township’s July 4 Community Day.
The Bizzmobile’s community goal is to stimulate entrepreneurial thinking in children ages 3 to 18. “ Pittsburgh’s changing employment climate encourages entrepreneurship since small firms are creating most of the jobs in the Pittsburgh area given the decline of large industries,” said Dr. Cindy Iannarelli, its founder. She has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on developing entrepreneurial skills in children.
The Bizzmobile is separated into three distinct areas designed to provide children with hands-on experience in three business ventures. Young children can have their photo taken with the “Bizzness Bee” and simulate a retail environment with a real cash register. Elementary and middle school children can use the five laptops in the computer lab to run their own business simulation, and children can learn basics of money management in the manufacturing center, where they can make and sell a product.
