Citizens National Bank Becomes NexTier Bank Today
--Bank Celebrates Name Change with “Free Sample” Giveaway-
(Cranberry, PA)—October, 11, 2005. A family-owned bank rich with history and commitment to the communities it serves has changed its name to better fit the next frontier of banking services.
Citizens National Bank has changed its name to NexTier Bank. The name change was announced today by Margaret Irvine Weir, President of NexTier Bank, and goes into effect at all 15 former Citizens National Bank locations throughout Butler, Armstrong and northern Allegheny Counties.
To celebrate its name change, all 15 NexTier Bank branch locations will distribute “free samples” to walk-in consumers. Envelopes containing cash in denominations of $1, $5 or $50 will be handed out at all branches on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 8 a.m., while supplies last.
Special name change festivities will be held at the Cranberry NexTier branch location beginning at 9:00 a.m. . NextTier signage will be unveiled at 9:30 a.m. and a VIP reception will follow. Special customer awards will be presented including one to a NexTier long-term retail customer and to a child that saved the most consistently in the bank’s school savings program. The event concludes at 11:00 a.m. Festivities will continue at Morgan Center in Butler at 12:30 p.m.
According to Weir, “the name not only reflects the bank’s business growth strategy, but also our willingness to listen to our customers, evolve our services to meet their needs and help them reach the next level of financial security, and life.” The “free sample” promotion she says, “Gives people a fun and unique chance to personally interact with us. Hopefully, in the future, these same people will have an opportunity to see firsthand the innovative and sophisticated services that we provide to our customers.”
For example, NexTier bank offers customers Wealth Management Services, Insurance Services, and a Family Business Center, as well as features like Identity Fraud Expense insurance.
The look of some NexTier offices will change as well. Weir says several bank locations will be updated to reflect a “customer focused approach to banking,” which includes unusual amenities such as gourmet coffee machines and lobby coin counting machines.
Citizens National Bank was born 127 years ago in Evans City, then known as Evansburg. The bank expanded to 15 communities in Butler, Armstrong and northern Allegheny Counties, and has remained committed to recognizing the financial needs of its customers, and staying flexible enough to address those needs in a timely way.
In 2001, Citizens National Bank and Citizens Financial Group became engaged in a legal challenge for the rights to the name Citizens. Earlier this year, Citizens National Bank forged an agreement to release the name to CFG and selected its new name to better reflect its future strategic initiatives.
Weir hopes that NexTier will become an integral part of a person’s financial management picture. “One of our most important services – wealth management – doesn’t just apply to those with plentiful financial resources,” says Weir. In fact, she says, “one of our most important goals is to help our customers learn to grow their wealth and financial security, no matter their level of investment income.”
To that end, one of NexTier’s initiatives even focuses on children grades K through 12, teaching simple ways to save and invest money to help pay for future needs. “My great-grandfather started this bank believing in simple things like saving hard-earned money and investing it wisely. I think he’d be pleased we’re passing that philosophy down to the next generation of savers,” said Weir.
During its free sample promotion, envelopes will be distributed one per consumer while supplies last. Consumers do not need an account at NexTier to receive a “free sample.”
